Randy Schroeder
Math, Technology, & Graduate Services Coordinator

Randy Schroeder has been at CFAR/Student Support Services since 1997 and with various schools and departments since 1979. At the Center, his focus is on academic and personal support and major/career decision-making with undergraduates, math instruction and tutoring, and preparing for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and graduate school. He also coordinates many of the technology services for students through CFAR and is responsible for our small (six computers, one printer and a scanner) cluster in Wolff House. Randy's background includes extensive work in academic advising, tutoring, career development, group presentations, outdoor/experiential education, and personal counseling. He has much experience with diverse populations, and collaborates closely with the UNH CONNECT Program and OMSA. He has served as a high school counselor & teacher, cross-country coach, academic advisor, currently teaches career & personal development and internship courses in the UNH graduate program in Counseling, works closely with the UNH McNair Program, the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders, and with the University Advising & Career Center as an academic advisor at June Orientation for first year students.

As a professional in Student Support Services (a federal TRIO Program), Randy has contributed numerous times to organizing and presenting at the annual NEOA Conference and TRIO Day, and coordinates the annual Student Support Services Professional Development Day. He was awarded the UNH Presidential Award of Excellence in 2008.

Randy's personal activities include family time with his four sisters and young grandchildren Jack, Calvin, Maya, and Dylan, organic gardening, stock-car racing (previously owned a dirt-track modified sportsman stock car), kayaking, biking, skiing, masters swimming, photography, woods-walking, and working in stone and wood. He's traveled throughout Latin America and Puerto Rico, and frequently camps in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, northern New Hampshire (i.e., Pittsburg!), or Acadia National Park with his wife Bonnie.

Background: Grew up in western New York State (Jamestown) and attended Jamestown Community College. BA Science/Chemistry and M.Ed. in Counseling from UNH. Workshops in technology, counseling, and horticulture. Randy runs a private tutoring service, specializing in the GRE, SAT, Praxis, and other standardized exams.
