UPCOMING SESSIONS:

More will be scheduled soon!

GRE PREPARATION CLASS - (participants MUST be eligible for UNH Student Support Services)

Our next GRE preparation class will meet in June/July, 2008. All aspects of GRE preparation are covered ... test content and format, problem-solving approaches, scoring protocols, and specific strategies. Sample tests will be assigned each week. The only cost will be the required book.

For more information and to register, contact the instructor, Randy Schroeder at 862-3687 or randalls[at]unh.edu. Reminder: It is open ONLY to eligible students. Some individual GRE tutoring is also available to eligible students. Funding is provided through our Student Support Services federal grant.

Software which simulates the Computer-Based GRE is available for all UNH students to use in the Center's computer cluster. The cluster can be used any time that the Center is open. This software is also now available for free through the official GRE web site! Look for POWERPREP software.

The GRE GENERAL test is now ONLY available as a computer-based test (CBT). Don't get the general test mixed up with the specific GRE SUBJECT tests, which are offered only as a paper-based test. The subject tests may be required by a specific graduate program to which you are applying. See links below for more information on either exam, registration, format, etc.

Educational Testing Service (ETS) HAD been planning significant changes to the GRE beginning in Fall, 2007. Please note that these proposed changes have been CANCELLED, although much smaller, incremental changes to the GRE are being implemented. The format and content of the GRE will continue as is for the foreseeable future. All details can be found at the official GRE web site.

GRADUATE SCHOOL APPLICATION STATEMENTS

Are you writing your graduate application statement? Do you want it to be the best possible sample of your writing? Are you looking for some ideas for getting started? Do you want some feedback on your ideas?

We will offer several Graduate School Writing workshops during the Fall semester. Part I is a 75 minute workshop focusing on creating and crafting your graduate application statement and putting together a first draft. We'll also discuss strategies for recommendations/references. Follow-up consultations are available by appointment.

The first step is to ask the UNH Financial Aid Office to see if you qualify.

THE GRE COMPUTER-BASED TEST (CBT)

The CBT test center which is closest to UNH:

The address is 200 Griffin Road (Suite #4), Portsmouth. This site is in the vicinity of Borthwick Avenue & Portsmouth Hospital.

(603) 433-6800. The GRE testing sites are run by Sylvan Learning Centers.
Many people have reported difficulty in reaching this Center to register for the GRE. There seems to be a push to have GRE takers register on-line. The Thomson/Prometric Company registers applicants on-line with a credit card.
