Student-Athlete
Support Services

The purpose of the Student-Athlete Support Services program (SASS) at the University of New Hampshire is to monitor the academic progress of its student-athletes to meet both University and NCAA standards, provide academic assistance, and assist athletes in using services from other University support offices.
There are several ways in which academic progress is monitored:
Communication with faculty, academic advisors, and coaches on a regular basis.
For all first year student-athletes, evaluation forms are sent to faculty at the mid-point of the Fall and Spring semester. These forms ask faculty to evaluate student-athletes on the following criteria:
Faculty are also given the opportunity to write comments on the overall academic performance of the student-athlete. Once the reports are returned, the information is shared with the coaches and the athlete.
1. Tutorial Program:
All student-athletes are eligible for free tutorial assistance through the Athletic Department. Tutors are undergraduate and graduate students at the University who have been recommended by faculty to tutor in a specific subject area. Individual and group tutoring sessions are available.
Student athletes are typically allowed to schedule tutoring sessions to accomodate their schedules.
2. Referrals:
The SASS office also interacts with the following offices on campus to provide assistance to student-athletes:
